About

This course is designed to help early years practitioners, parents, and educators understand how nutrition shapes lifelong oral health. Backed by the latest research and aligned with EYFS guidance, Nutrition for Oral Health explores how food choices in early childhood impact dental development, jaw strength, and even speech and facial structure. Why This Course Matters Tooth decay remains one of the most common health issues among children, with 1 in 4 UK five-year-olds showing signs of decay. Brushing is important, but the story begins long before the toothbrush. Nutrition plays a vital role in forming strong enamel, healthy gums, and well-developed jaws. The EYFS (2021 update) requires providers to “promote the good health, including the oral health, of children.” This course helps you go beyond brushing, by integrating nutrition into everyday learning and care.
